After Years of Service to Delta and the Community, TechOps’ Mike Moore to Retire
After years of dedicated service to Delta and the aviation industry, we bid farewell to Mike Moore as he retires at the end of the month. Mike has been a remarkable leader within Delta and TechOps, playing a huge role in the improvements to our maintenance operations and growing our third-party business, now known as Delta TechOps Services Group (DTSG). Mike’s aviation career began long before working at Delta. As an Air Force mechanic, aviation and maintenance was in his blood. Following his service in the Air Force, he began his commercial aviation career at Chromalloy Georgia. From there he worked at Northwest Airlines, then TIMCO Aviation Services, and finally served as a partner to TeamSAI. In 2012, Mike started his Delta career as the Director, Engine Maintenance at Delta TechOps. Since then, his fearless leadership has led to the creation of numerous opportunities for the division. To name a few:
- He was instrumental in the development of TechOps Solutions, a safety, quality, process improvement program, led by frontline employees
- He supported the introduction of two major next-generation engine maintenance partnerships, one with Rolls-Royce and the other Pratt & Whitney, and has overseen the programs development since. These programs will bring decades of work to the organization.
- He spearheaded the alignment of all third-party work done by Delta TechOps MRO, Delta Material Services and Delta Flight Products and the creation of DTSG
Earlier this year when Delta TechOps won The 145 Top Shop Award for Best Total Solutions Provider, Mike had this to say “Congratulations to TechOps people around the world whose unwavering commitment to industry-best service and dedication to safety, efficiency and excellence for our MRO customers drove this win.” In addition to his immeasurable contributions to the business, true to the Delta culture he has been heavily involved with the American Cancer Society as a GA Board of Directors and Executive Sponsor for the Toys for Tots Foundation. During the 2021 Toys for Tots event, Mike shared the following. “Marine Toys for Tots holds a very special place in my heart, and I can’t thank our TechOps family enough for their dedication to supporting our community,” said Mike Moore, SVP – Maintenance Operations and MRO Services. “Coming together as a company to make the holiday season special for our children is truly the Delta Difference.” On behalf of all of us at Delta, we thank Mike for his incredible leadership and 30+ years of dedication to aviation. He has supported and inspired so many people both personally and professionally. We wish him all the best in this next chapter of life. Happy retirement, Mike.
